Sackl entered the business world in 2007, when he established Young Media at the age of 21. The company operated as a classified advertising platform serving younger audiences and local businesses. His subsequent business activities included property, recruitment, migration services, restaurants and other ventures, followed by work in technology and biotechnology.[2]

Early life and Young Media

Sackl was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. His published biography states that his parents separated when he was young and that he encountered challenges during his teenage years. He later left home, worked in several different jobs and began developing his first business after completing school.[3]

In 2007, at the age of 21, Sackl established Young Media. He began selling advertising opportunities to local businesses before the website had been completed and used the advance advertising revenue to help finance its development. The business later expanded into other Australian cities before being sold.[4]

Business career

After selling Young Media, Sackl states that he moved into property investment and housing developments. He later expanded his activities into recruitment and migration services. His biography also describes his involvement with restaurants and several other businesses.[5]

From October 2013 to December 2018, Sackl served as a director of five companies: Dash Technologies Pty Ltd, Ad Astra Institute Pty Ltd, Karma3 Upcycling Pty Ltd, Sino Resources Group (Aust) Pty Ltd and Universal Personnel Pty Ltd.

ASIC stated that the five companies were involved in fields including software development, vocational education, animal-feed production, migration services and employment services.

Agriculture

Sackl was involved in cattle production at Blue Lake Station in South Australia together with Michael Famularo. In 2017, Blue Lake Station received the South Australian Most Outstanding Beef Producer award at the Meat Standards Australia Excellence in Eating Quality Awards.[6]

The award formed part of the Meat Standards Australia Excellence in Eating Quality Awards, which recognised producers and businesses participating in the MSA program and associated with meat eating quality.[7]

COVID-19 testing business

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sackl became involved in the development and distribution of diagnostic testing products. In his own account, his business initially obtained distribution rights for an antibody test kit and later worked on an integrated testing pen designed for SARS-CoV-2 testing.[8]

Sackl states that the product was subsequently redesigned into a pen-shaped device that incorporated the testing components and buffer fluid into a single format. He also states that the business entered into a supply agreement in 2021 and generated approximately A$130 million in sales during 2021 and 2022.[9]

The sales figures originate from Sackl's own website and are therefore presented as figures reported by him rather than independently verified financial results.
